Lasix is a brand name for the drug furosemide, a diuretic. When taken,
one will excrete water as well as potassium, sodium and chloride from the
body. It is used by competitive athletes for weight class adjustment and
bodybuilders before a contest to lower water concentrations inside the
muscle. The end result is quick weight loss and in the case ofbodybuilders,
that super-ripped look we see during competitions. This is a potentially
dangerous drug, as seen on occasion when severe dehydration and electrolyte
imbalance takes the life of an ambitious athlete. One should use extreme
caution when considering using lasix or other diuretics, and it certainly
not needed for non-competitors. This substance is available as an oral
tablet or IM/IV injection solution. Drug testing for Lasix at bodybuilding
competitions has led many to avoid the tablets and take larger risks with
intravenous administration in an attempt to avoid using it until after
the "piss-test". It is available in many different preparations in many
countries, none of which are currently being counterfeited
